Please be aware that on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays between 22h00 and 06h00 a road barrier with an automatic rising bollard, blocks the access to Rusland – the connecting street to Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam. This rising bollard can be remotely controlled by The Grand. Please inform us on the license plate number of the vehicle that needs to enter the area prior to your arrival and we will make sure it is registered and allowed to access the area.

Royal Suite

The well-appointed Royal Suite is located on the third floor of a former canal house and overlooks the hotel’s opulent courtyard. This most prestigious guest room will make you feel like the royals and admirals who have graced our building over the years. Legendary Imperial Suites

Since 1578 The Grand has welcomed celebrated authors, actors, ambassadors and heads of state. Along with the Willem van Oranje and Willem de Vijfde Suites, the Maria de Medici Suite is a testament to the rich history of The Grand, with its Dutch contemporary architecture, wall paintings and 20th century décor.

Each of the Imperial Suites (100 SQM / 1076 SQF) is connecting to a Superior Room separating the spacious living room from two double MyBed bedrooms, including a walk-in closet in the master bedroom. Invite some of your guests for an intimate in-room dining experience arranged by your butler, as the Imperial suite also has a large dining table. Two spacious bathrooms, of which the master bathroom has mosaic walls, together with a steam room and a freestanding bathtub, are both equipped with a powerful rain shower to enhance your "salle de bien" experience and have butler service available during your stay.

Willem V Suite

Willem V Batavus
°1748 – †1806
Prince of Orange-Nassau was the last Stadtholder of the Dutch Republic, and between 1795 and 1806 he led the Government of the Dutch Republic in Exile in London. William the Fifth was appointed to the Amsterdam Admiralty Board on 31 May, 1768. This suite overlooks the canal.

Canal House Suites

Room for people with a disability

The hotel has 1 room on the third floor of the main building specially designed for the requirements and comfort of disabled guests. This Superior Room is located close to the elevator for easy access.


  • Specially designed for wheelchair access and with a barrier-free access to the bath room including roll-in shower, lowered sink and grooming station and toilet with handrails on both sides. This bath room or salle de bien is equipped with an emergency system and the room has several telephones. Complimentary butler service is offered during your stay. Upon check-in your butler will explain the emergency procedure to you. Security is present 24 hours a day and will assist you in case of emergency (the stair case is situated directly next to the room and does have an evacuation chair).
